Comprises of Rubondo and 9 smaller islands tucked into a corner of Lake Victoria, providing a variety of habitats from savannah to open woodland, dense forest, papyrus swamps and sandy beaches. A tropical island that became a sanctuary to wildlife is a safari dream come true. To step into this island, the only way accessible is boat or air flight. Apart from chimpanzee, seven other species were set up in this island that are Roan antelope and rhinoceros both now wiped out entirely, whereas Suni antelope, elephants, twelve giraffes, 20 black-and-white colobus monkeys, and African grey parrots breed freely. Even sightings of hippos, crocodiles and even otters are relatively common. The shores are seen with high numbers of serrated hinged terrapins. Over 300 species of birds and varieties of butterflies flock around the island making it mystified piece in a tropical paradise.
