Selous Game Reserve is the largest reserve laden with largest wildlife reserve. Animals such as African bush elephants, black rhinos, hippopotamus, lions, East African wild dogs, Cape buffaloes, Masai giraffes, Plains zebras, and crocodiles are found in large numbers than in any other African game reserve. The park is known for its unspoilt but spectacular game views. The widespread reserve is excellent bird sanctuary too. The biggest African clichés game viewing may be the highlight but walking safaris, boat safaris etc. also play crucial part in entertaining the pants off safari thrill seekers.
Other species commonly seen are lion, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra and greater kudu.
The Selous is a superb safari destination for both family safaris and African honeymoons, the entire better for the ease of getting there and the lack of crowds. The park has the widest diversity of safari activities in the country, offering the boating safaris as well as standard game drives, walking safaris and legendary fly camping trips.
Selous is a 9 hour drive or 90 minute flight from Dar es Salaam.
