Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain known to man. It is a mountain where you can hike for more than 90 kilometres, gain 4 000 meters in altitude, traverse rain forest, moorland, alpine desert, snow fields and ice cliffs, all virtually on the equator. Just once for a lifetime, Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing is a truly an adventure you’ve never had before.
The mountain has 3 peaks namely Shira to the east, Mawenzi to the west and Kibo (the tallest) in the middle of the other two. Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the most accessible and easy climb of the Seven Summit in the world. But it is the most exhilarating climb to the glacial top. Middle of equator lays a glacial top with 4 climatic zones on the way, causing hair-raising climate changes to endure.
Kilimanjaro National Park covers the area above 2700m on the mountain and is located a mere 3 degrees (approximately 340km) south of the equator. Its vegetation varies from montane rain forest, to heath and moorland to highland/alphine desert presenting a symphony of awesome landscapes and scenery.
However, Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is little tricky if you don’t know which route suits you. There are seven routes to choose from, all different than one another. Out of all routes, three different routes are most preferred based on price and needs.
Although it can be climbed anytime of the year, the best times to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro is in the cool, dry months of June through October, or the hotter, dry months from December through March. It is advisable to avoid the rainy months of April, May and November.
