Every serious wildlife photographer eventually asks the same question: how do you get the shot without twelve other vehicles in the frame? In the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, even a spectacular sighting often comes with a queue of Land Cruisers jostling for position. In Tanzania's Southern Circuit, that problem largely disappears.

Ruaha and Nyerere National Parks cover a combined area larger than Switzerland, yet see a fraction of the visitor numbers of the north. For photographers, that emptiness is the whole point. You can hold a sighting for an hour, reposition for the light without another guide waving you off, and come home with images that don't look like everyone else's Tanzania trip.

At Silver Sky Travel, we've been building safaris across the Southern Circuit since 2013, and photography-led itineraries are one of the areas where this region genuinely outperforms the north.

Why the Southern Circuit Rewards Patience

A photography safari runs on different priorities than a standard game drive. The goal isn't to tick off the Big Five before lunch, it's to wait for a moment: the right light, the right posture, the right background. That kind of patience needs two things most northern parks can't guarantee: an empty road, and a guide who thinks like a photographer rather than a spotter.

Ruaha delivers both. With so few other vehicles around, you can sit with a pride of lions for as long as the scene demands, without worrying about blocking someone else's view or feeling pressure to move on. Nyerere, Tanzania's largest protected area, offers the same solitude along the Rufiji River, plus the option of photographing from a boat, a perspective the Northern Circuit simply doesn't offer.

Ruaha's Baobab Country and Big Skies

What sets Ruaha apart visually is the landscape itself. Ancient baobabs, some centuries old, punctuate the plains and rocky escarpments in a way that gives photographs real structure and scale. An elephant standing beneath a baobab, or a lone tree silhouetted against a burnt-orange sunset, produces the kind of graphic, unmistakably-Ruaha image that a flat open plain never will.

Add the Great Ruaha River as a natural gathering point for wildlife, dramatic light through the dry season, and healthy predator populations, and you have a park built for photographers who want more than a checklist of species. This is also where a private vehicle earns its keep. Being able to decide when to leave camp, how long to sit with a sighting, and when to chase the light rather than the itinerary is the difference between snapshots and a portfolio.

Nyerere: Water, Boats, and a Different Kind of Frame

Where Ruaha is baobabs and dry plains, Nyerere is water. The Rufiji River system opens up boat safaris as a genuine photography tool, letting you shoot hippos and crocodiles at water level, or catch elephants crossing at eye height rather than looking down from a vehicle. Combined with game drives through miombo woodland and open floodplain, Nyerere gives a Southern Circuit itinerary real visual variety across just a few days.

Getting the Light Right

Across both parks, the rule is the same one that governs photography anywhere in Africa: the first and last hour of daylight is everything. Early mornings bring soft, low light, long shadows, and often mist rising off the water. Late afternoons build through golden hour into rich, saturated colour at sunset. The middle of the day, by contrast, is flat and harsh, which is exactly why most camps build in a long rest between drives.

Because these hours are also when wildlife is most active, a well-planned photography itinerary in the south naturally syncs the best light with the best game viewing, rather than fighting to schedule around it.

Building the Right Vehicle and Camp Setup

A few practical decisions make an outsized difference to the results:

  • Open-sided vehicles over enclosed ones. No window frame or glass between you and the shot, and the ability to swing a lens in any direction.
  • Fewer guests per vehicle. Nobody shooting past someone else's shoulder, and no compromise between photographers and sightseers on how long to hold a sighting.
  • A guide briefed in advance. Camps and guides who know you're there for photography, not just game counts, will angle the vehicle for light, cut the engine to kill vibration, and hold position rather than move on too soon.
  • Dust management. From roughly August onward, Ruaha's tracks turn to fine powder that gets into everything. Minimising lens changes, keeping a sealed bag or cover in the vehicle, and cleaning gear during the midday break protects a week's worth of images.

This is exactly the kind of detail we build into our Signature and Luxury tier Southern Circuit itineraries: private vehicles, photography-briefed guides, and camps selected specifically because they cater to photographers rather than general tourists.

Best Time of Year for a Southern Circuit Photography Safari

The dry season, roughly June through October, is the safer choice for a first photographic trip south. Thin bush means clear sightlines, wildlife concentrates around remaining water sources, and skies stay clear for predictable light. The trade-off is dust and, later in the season, heat.

The green season, November through April, is a different but equally compelling proposition: dramatic storm skies, lush landscapes, newborn animals, and some of the best birding in the country, at the cost of taller grass and more scattered wildlife. Photographers who already have a dry-season trip under their belt often come back specifically for the green season atmosphere.

Pairing It With Zanzibar

Because Ruaha and Nyerere are only a short flight from Zanzibar, a photography-focused extension into the Southern Circuit works naturally for groups who are already island-bound. A few days chasing golden hour at a Ruaha waterhole or along the Rufiji, followed by a beach stretch to edit and unwind, is an itinerary combination we build often for exactly this kind of traveller.

Planning a Photography Safari with Silver Sky

Since 2013, Silver Sky Travel has run ground logistics and tailor-made safaris across both the Northern and Southern Circuits, with our own vehicle fleet and four service tiers built around what different travellers actually need, from Essential through to Luxury. For a photography-led trip, that means private vehicles, guides who understand what you're there for, and camps chosen for how well they work behind a lens, not just for their view.

If you're planning a photography safari through Ruaha, Nyerere, or a combination with Zanzibar, get in touch and we'll put together an itinerary and quote built around your dates and your group.

The Ultimate Luxury Tanzania Safari:
Everything You Need to Know

The engine cuts out. In the sudden silence, you hear it — the low, resonant exhale of a lion somewhere in the pre-dawn dark, so close the sound seems to move through you rather than past you. The Serengeti sky above is still thick with stars. Your guide says nothing. He doesn't need to.

This is Tanzania. And no photograph, film, or description has ever quite done it justice.

Africa has many great safari destinations, but Tanzania occupies a category of its own. It holds more UNESCO World Heritage Sites than any other country on the continent, protects nearly 40% of its land as national parks and conservation areas, and is home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth. When you layer in the quality of luxury camps now operating across the country — intimate, expertly staffed, rooted in conservation — the result is an experience that doesn't just exceed expectations. It recalibrates them.

This guide covers everything you need to plan a luxury Tanzania safari: the best destinations, the ideal time to go, how to choose an operator, what to budget, and how to make sure the trip you take is the trip you'll spend the rest of your life talking about.

What Makes a Tanzania Safari "Luxury"?

Beyond the five-star label

The word "luxury" is overused in travel, and the safari world is no exception. But in Tanzania, genuine luxury isn't primarily about the quality of the linen or the temperature of the plunge pool — though both matter. It's about access, exclusivity, and depth of experience.

True luxury in this context means staying in a camp so private that the only footprints around the fire pit each evening are yours. It means a private vehicle so you can stay with the cheetah and her cubs as long as you like, rather than rotating away to give another vehicle its turn. It means a guide whose knowledge of animal behaviour, ecology, and local culture transforms a game drive into something closer to a graduate seminar — one conducted at sunrise, in a landscape that hasn't changed in a thousand years.

The finest luxury camps in Tanzania tend to be small — often just six to twelve tents — positioned in private conservancies or remote corners of national parks where visitor numbers are tightly controlled. The best of them are fly-in only, meaning the road convoys and day-tripper crowds that can dilute the experience elsewhere simply cannot reach them.

Small, private, impeccably run — the hallmark of true luxury in Tanzania

The service standard

If there is one single factor that separates a good luxury safari from an exceptional one, it is the guide. Tanzania's top operators invest heavily in their teams, and it shows. The best guides hold advanced qualifications in wildlife ecology, speak multiple languages, and have often spent decades in the same ecosystem — which means they don't just know where the animals are. They know why they're there, what they're likely to do next, and what the behaviour you're watching tells you about the broader health of the landscape.

Allied to great guiding: private vehicles for each booking (no sharing), flexible daily rhythms (sleep in, or head out before dawn — your call), and the kind of attentive, unobtrusive hospitality that makes you feel cared for without ever feeling watched. These are the markers of serious luxury operations, and they're worth every penny of the premium they command.

The Best Luxury Safari Destinations in Tanzania

Tanzania is vast — roughly twice the size of California — and its ecosystems range from open savannah to dense woodland, volcanic highlands to coastal forest. No single itinerary covers everything, so understanding the character of each destination is essential to building the right trip.

The Serengeti — the iconic heartland

There is simply nowhere else on Earth quite like the Serengeti. This 14,750-square-kilometre ecosystem hosts the largest terrestrial mammal migration on the planet: 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelle, moving in an endless seasonal loop in search of rain-fed grass. The Great Migration is one of those rare natural phenomena that genuinely exceeds the hype.

"The Great Migration is one of those rare natural phenomena that genuinely exceeds the hype."

For luxury travellers, the key is positioning. The Serengeti is not one place but several ecosystems in one, and where you stay should be determined by when you're going. The southern Serengeti hosts the calving season from January to March. The central plains offer year-round big cat territory. The northern Serengeti is where the dramatic Mara River crossings happen between July and October. The best luxury choice is a private mobile camp that repositions with the migration. Book early: the finest options fill twelve to eighteen months in advance.

Ngorongoro Crater — a world apart

Formed by the collapse of a volcanic caldera roughly two to three million years ago, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most extraordinary enclosed ecosystems on Earth. Its 260-square-kilometre floor supports an astonishing density of wildlife — lions, elephants, hippos, flamingos, hyenas, and critically, one of the last remaining populations of black rhino in East Africa.

The Ngorongoro Crater — a self-contained world spanning 260 square kilometres

The crater rewards early arrival. Dawn on the crater floor, with mist still clinging to the walls and the light turning golden across the grassland, is one of those images that stays with you permanently. Luxury lodges perched on the rim offer dramatic views into the caldera, and the sense of looking down into a self-contained world never quite loses its power.

Ruaha & Nyerere — the untamed south

If the northern circuit is Tanzania's face, the south is its soul. Ruaha National Park — Tanzania's largest — and the vast Nyerere National Park together protect an area of wilderness larger than the United Kingdom. Visitor numbers are a fraction of the north, infrastructure is deliberately minimal, and the wildlife includes substantial populations of wild dogs, lions, leopards, crocodiles, and hippos.

Walking safari in African bush

Elephants in Tarangire National Park

Walking safaris — led by armed guides with the skills and composure to navigate you through the bush on foot — are a genuine highlight here. Boat safaris along the Rufiji River in Nyerere are equally extraordinary: drifting silently past sleeping crocodiles and bathing elephants while egrets pick insects from the water's surface.

Zanzibar extension — the perfect safari finish

No luxury Tanzania itinerary is complete without at least a few nights on Zanzibar. The island lies forty miles off the Tanzanian coast — a layered, fragrant, historically rich place where Arabic, Indian, African, and Portuguese cultures have been interweaving for centuries. The transition from safari to beach — from red dust to white sand, from predawn starts to late breakfasts watching dhows cross the channel — is one of travel's most satisfying contrasts. Give it at least three nights, ideally five.

Getting Between Camps — Fly, Don't Drive

Every transition between camps should be by light aircraft. Tanzania's internal charter flight network is excellent, and flying between destinations saves hours of overland travel while opening access to remote areas unreachable by road. Treat internal flights not as an optional upgrade but as a fundamental part of the luxury experience.

When to Go — Timing Your Luxury Tanzania Safari

Peak season: June to October

The dry season is Tanzania's most popular time to travel, and for good reason. Vegetation thins dramatically, making animals far easier to spot. Waterholes become critical gathering points, concentrating predators and prey in photogenic abundance. In the Serengeti, July through August is prime time for the river crossings. Book twelve to eighteen months ahead for the best camps during this window.

A private game drive at golden hour — the luxury of stopping as long as you please

Green season: November to April

Tanzania's green season is one of the best-kept secrets in luxury travel. The landscape turns impossibly lush, birdlife explodes, baby animals are everywhere, and rates drop by twenty to thirty percent. The calving season in the southern Serengeti (January to February) is arguably as dramatic as the migration crossings — thousands of wildebeest calves born every day, in a landscape patrolled by cheetah, lion, and hyena.

How to Plan a Luxury Tanzania Safari

Choosing a specialist operator

Tanzania is one of the few travel experiences where using a specialist operator isn't just convenient — it's genuinely transformative. The best safari specialists bring relationships that matter: long-standing access to private conservancies, priority allocations at sought-after camps, and the kind of on-the-ground knowledge that means the difference between a good trip and a perfect one. Look for operators with deep Tanzania specialisation, a commitment to small-group or private travel, and robust sustainability credentials. Names worth researching include Nomad Tanzania, Asilia Africa, &Beyond, and Singita.

Building your itinerary

Resist the temptation to see everything. The travellers who get the most from their safari are invariably those who commit to fewer destinations and stay longer in each. A minimum of ten to fourteen days is recommended. A well-paced itinerary might look like this: fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport, spend two nights in Tarangire, fly to the Serengeti for three to four nights, transfer to Ngorongoro for two nights, and finish with four to five nights on Zanzibar.

Getting there

The two main international entry points are Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), serving the northern circuit, and Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam (DAR), connecting to the south. Both are served by major hubs including Amsterdam, Doha, Nairobi, and Addis Ababa. Business-class routing makes the overnight flight genuinely comfortable — worth the premium when you're stepping off a plane and directly onto a game drive.

Sustainability & Responsible Luxury

The finest luxury camps in Tanzania are not just beautiful places to stay. They are conservation engines. A private camp generates revenue that funds community livelihoods, anti-poaching operations, and habitat protection — creating economic incentives for wilderness that compete with, and often outperform, the alternatives of agriculture or extraction.

Look for camps with demonstrable commitments: community ownership models, transparent anti-poaching partnerships, renewable energy infrastructure, and meaningful local employment programmes. Asilia Africa's community conservancy partnerships in the northern Serengeti, Nomad Tanzania's long-running conservation programmes in the south, and Singita's Grumeti Fund — which manages over 350,000 acres of habitat in the western Serengeti — are examples of what this model looks like at its best.

What to Budget

Premium tier
$800 – $1,200 per person / night

Beautifully appointed camps with strong guiding teams, private vehicles, and excellent food and wine. Typically includes all meals, game activities, and park fees. A solid, memorable safari experience with high-quality service throughout.

Ultra-luxury tier
$1,200 – $2,500+ per person / night

The finest private camps in exclusive concessions — often eight tents or fewer — with exceptional guiding, the highest levels of personalisation, and the strongest conservation programmes. Private vehicle and guide included as standard. Some properties available for full exclusive buy-out.

A well-constructed 10–14 day luxury itinerary including internal flights and a Zanzibar extension typically runs $15,000–$35,000+ per person. Not always included in headline rates: internal charter flights ($400–$800/leg), gratuities ($15–$20 per person/day), and international airfares.

Essential Packing & Practical Tips

Clothing

Neutral tones only — khaki, olive, sand, grey. Avoid blue (attracts tsetse flies) and white (impractical in dust). Pack layers for cold early morning starts; temperatures rise sharply by mid-morning.

Luggage

Charter flights require soft-sided bags, max 15kg. Most luxury camps offer same-day laundry, so packing light is entirely feasible even for two weeks.

Optics

Quality binoculars (8×42 or 10×42) matter more than a camera. For photography, a 100–400mm zoom handles the majority of safari situations beautifully.

Health & documents

Yellow fever certificate required from some countries. Malaria prophylaxis strongly recommended throughout Tanzania. Comprehensive travel insurance including medical evacuation is non-negotiable.

"There is a particular kind of trip — the ones that divide your life into before and after. Tanzania, done properly, is almost always one of them."

Start planning 12–18 months before your intended travel date. Find a specialist you trust, be clear about what matters most to you — solitude, big cats, the migration, walking safaris, a family adventure — and let them build around that. Then go.

Planning a luxury Tanzania safari? The key is starting early, choosing carefully, and trusting the wilderness to do the rest. If you have questions about any of the destinations or camps mentioned here, feel free to reach out — we're always glad to help.

Getting The Most Out Of Africa’s Great Wildebeest Migration Through Tanzania Camping Safari https://silverskytravel.co.tz/getting-the-most-out-of-africas-great-wildebeest-migration-through-tanzania-camping-safari/ https://silverskytravel.co.tz/getting-the-most-out-of-africas-great-wildebeest-migration-through-tanzania-camping-safari/#respond Tue, 06 May 2025 10:04:08 +0000 https://silverskytravel.co.tz/getting-the-most-out-of-africas-great-wildebeest-migration-through-tanzania-camping-safari/

Can you just imagine a migration where millions and millions of mammals such as wildebeests & zebras brave precarious risks & hazards like crocodiles, lions, leopards and drowning in order to go for grassy land and water-based resources such as rivers and lakes? Yes, the raw beauty & the scale of annual wildlife sight top the wish list of numerous wildlife travellers and safari goers. Many enthusiasts term this year-round natural activity as Great Migration. Visitors, who are taking Tanzania Camping Safari, have a great chance of watching this magnificent activity taking place with their own eyes. Actually, the big herds are generally in Tanzania from November to June & by July to October or early November, they will cross over to Kenya. Thus, these gigantic groups of animals migrate from one place to another by monitoring the change in weather patterns. Amazing! Isn’t it?

Now, let’s have a look at all those unfolding events that take place during the migration procedure are as follows:-

Baby Pictures

  • This is one of the first things to watch before the start of the great migration or some can also say that it is the starting phase of Serengeti Wildebeest Migration.
  • It will be a stage when backpackers will get lots of chances to take baby pictures of the wildebeest calves. That’s correct females of the wildebeest clan give birth to whopping 250,000 calves within just a few weeks or the starting months of the year.
  • Moreover, during the green season of the Serengeti’s short grass plains permits the gripping game viewing & wonderful photographic opportunities. The newborn babies of these wild creatures of Serengeti provide great entertainment for all the holidaymakers.

A River Runs Through It

  • The midsummer to late fall season is some of the most excellent times to witness the intense drama of river crossings in both Tanzania & Kenya. Believe it or not, this part of the season is really action packed for Tanzania Camping Safari.
  • The gigantic group of wildebeests & Zebras take a huge amount of risk crossing the Grumeti & Mara Rivers that are filled with opportunistic crocodiles that are more than ready to pounce on the weaklings of the wildebeest herds for having a good lunch or dinner.
  • During this crossing & the migration period, these wildebeest are also a great source of food for lion, cheetah and hyena.

Glamping

  • While selecting the Tanzania Tours And Safaris, it is recommended to have small tented camps for their high quality & suitable access to migration viewing.
  • There are several camps that range from basic to ultra-luxurious. Thus, you have to ask & work with your tour operator to select the camp that is right for your trip.
  • Moreover, camping in the jungle really doesn’t mean that you have to rough it. If you are paying good money, then you deserve a lot to stay in a camp of your choice.

Patience Is A Virtue

  • As our elders used to say that patience is the key to success or sweet results, you can use this same phrase here while waiting or sitting under a tree along the riverbank all day long to witness a river crossing.
  • Furthermore, it will be better for you to wait in a private vehicle by paying extra and have a peaceful approach.
  • Thus, make sure to have an expert guide who can precisely figure out the location and rivers that are most suitable for the migration movements & the best chances to catch an exciting action.

Plan Ahead

  • It will be much better for you to plan ahead of others, such as choosing prime and well-located camps to book up very early than others.
  • Thus in order to catch the action of this great event, it is suggested to book for your Great Migration Safari as early as possible at least some months in advance in order to make sure that you book the camps, lodges or hotels when it intersects with the time, season and period of great migration of wildebeest.
  • Additionally, a great & good advanced planning will not only save you a lot of money but it will also save you the last-minute rush when the booking prices of the packages will be sky high.

Watching wildebeest migration is a great deal when you are booking for your trip for Tanzania Camping Safari. It will be roller coaster ride if you are really rooting for it. Just imagine how you can be able to picture both the wildebeest and the lion fighting each other as prey and predator for survival. Some of the clicks will be just awesome and beyond imagination thus booking for these tours is just worth it. 11 Reasons Why African Safari Tours Are The Ultimate Family Adventure For Your Children https://silverskytravel.co.tz/11-reasons-why-african-safari-tours-are-the-ultimate-family-adventure-for-your-children/ https://silverskytravel.co.tz/11-reasons-why-african-safari-tours-are-the-ultimate-family-adventure-for-your-children/#respond Tue, 06 May 2025 09:58:47 +0000 https://silverskytravel.co.tz/11-reasons-why-african-safari-tours-are-the-ultimate-family-adventure-for-your-children/ Safari is a great combination of both fun and education and it is not a place where only adults can venture into, even children can learn a lot about nature and wildlife.  It can only happen if children are kept away from their hand-held gadgets for a while. For them, African Safari Tours can open a whole new world filled with a lot of natural wonders. If the kids are old enough, they can also try their hand at photography or just draw or paint whatever they watched in the jungle. It will help them to know about the true value of wild nature, the bush, the stars, animals and birds.

Now, here is a list of 11 reasons for all those parents on why taking their respective kids to an African Safari Adventure is so necessary:-

1. See Animals In The Natural Wild

Children can be able to see animals in the wild. Until now children have seen all such animals in a zoo or a cage. But for the first time ever, kids will experience watching the same animals in a different environment such as an open sky without any bars or grills and that is what African Safari expenditure is all about.

Moreover, Tanzania is one of the best places in the world of safari where children can watch wildebeest migration as well as the big five animals such as buffalo, lion, rhinoceros, elephant, and leopard.

2. You Can Easily Avoid Malarial Zones

When kids are also involved in the popular African Safari Tours and at that point of time parents really get alarmed with the knowledge that most parts of Africa are Malaria-infested zones and their main priority is nothing but to keep their children safe from these zones.

Thus in order to prevent that situation, they have the option of immunising their respective young kids with Malarone & douse their body with insect repellent creams and instructing them strictly to wear long clothes while indulging in safari activities.

3. Spend Quality Time Together

The stress and tensions of the modern world are the reason why a family is not able to spend some quality time together. But African Safari can be the solution to such a problem. Whether, it is a game drive or a hot air balloon ride activity, each and every safari tour faring family gets more than enough chances to spend the quality time with each other.

Actually, all such safaris help a lot to make a bond between families stronger than ever when families enjoy & participate in the safari activities with each other.  Thus, all those families will know and feel the difference while returning home after going through a family safari experience.

4. Appreciate What You Have

Due to staying & growing up in cities, kids are slowly forgetting the true value of natural treasure such as jungles, forests and wild animals. While studying in class, all these things are nothing but just another lesson or chapter to learn or go through in class.

But taking your young lads to Safari Holidays In Africa can change all that. They can easily come close and feel the beauty of nature themselves. It will help them to understand what they are really missing.

5. Create Lasting Memories

Yes, holidaymakers can also be able to create lasting memories with their little kids. All those activities that a family takes part together create a lasting impression. When it comes to kids, all such impressions and memories stay with them forever.

Moreover, children with such beautiful memories will go for African Safari again and again. They can even come with their own kids to create the same or even much better-lasting memories.

6. Teach Respect For The Natural World

There might be numerous ways to teach kids to have respect for the natural world but respect for anything only comes after knowing & understanding about it completely.

In this case, it is the natural world. Thus, it is really important for the parents to take their kids to an African Safari Trip and it helps them to know, learn & feel a lot about nature and the way it works. When the children meet tribal like the Maasai warriors and learn about the ways they survive in the dense jungles of these national parks in Africa.

7. Increase Your ‘Cool’ Factor

Going on a safari trip also increases the cool factor of the family as well as the kids. Children will really have that feel good factor or cool factor spending some days and nights in safari with their parents.

8. They’ll Meet And Interact With Other Cultures

Kids will never be able to acquire full knowledge on how to behave with others who are different without mingling and interacting with all other cultures such as visiting Maasai tribe and their village.

During the interaction, they will learn that only how to survive in the jungle alone as well as the way of respecting and living with other wild animals harmoniously. Seriously, African Safari is a great place which works as a meeting point for different culture especially when it comes to kids.

9. Many Camps And Lodges Have Special Activities For Kids

That’s right, numerous camps & lodges have special activities for kids such as cookery lessons, bike & tuk-tuk rides, waterfall walks, village visits as well as learning to track rhino or follow elephant spoor.

If kids are going to stay at a camp then they can be engaged in activities such as swapping stories around the campfire at night & under the stars. Moreover, kids who are older can engage in walking safaris, gorilla and chimp trekking, canoeing or horse riding.

10. There’s Something For All Ages

An African Safari Adventure is just like a treasure chest that has something for each and everybody. Apart from just learning, kids will seriously get attached with the eco-system, wild animals and with the overall splendid environment.

All those kindergarten kids including those who are teenagers can also become good & great wildlife conservationists after having such a nice, exciting & cool tryst with wildlife.

11. Save Your Sanity!

A safari adventure can save the sanity in the parents as well as the kids. They are losing those morals that used to strongly bind the family together as well as an urge to save the forest resources that are disappearing rapidly because of Urbanisation.

Thus a safari can also teach people about the true value of family by visiting & learning from the Masai clan and about forests when they visit these national parks.

Thus African Safari Tours can just change a kid’s way of viewing the whole world. These types of safari trips will feel their young minds with new ideas as well as bring them closer to their parents. Conatct us @ Silver Sky Travel to know more.

The beautiful Savannah revealed itself as the balloon rise into the sky with the sunrise. The gorgeous view of nature and wildlife trails made by generations of animals is impossible to see from the ground… That is an incredible Balloon Safari Experience.

Balloon Safaris in Serengeti encourages all of you to join in an extraordinary adventure. Floating in a hot air Serengeti Balloon Safari over the famous Serengeti National Park with its captivating panoramic views is an experience that will stay imprinted in your mind forever. Each and every year from the month of July till the end of October, the endless plains of serene & peaceful Serengeti provide the setting for Tanzania’s greatest wildlife scene such as the ‘Annual Migration’.

Here all the visiting safari enthusiasts will be able to watch hundreds and thousands of wildebeests aligned with a quarter of million thousand gazelles and zebra move in a gigantic circular & clockwise direction in search of the green grass & plenty of water to consume. Furthermore, the entire cycle of migration gets spectacular when the huge hordes of grass-eating animals are tracked by Africa’s greatest predators relentlessly. Actually, day-trippers can watch all this spectacular action more clearly from above while riding on Balloon Safari.

The indulgence in such an activity is an out of the world experience and here is brief detail of an aerial activity that takes place so systematically that it makes the entire safari trip successful for all those people who have participated in this safari activity are as follows:-

When Does The Hot Air Balloon Flight Start?

For all those individuals who are interested can take this type of gliding aerial flight in Serengeti that starts normally at early in the morning when the gentle wind on the plains is still cold and all the safari explorers start beginning their day by having a hot and tasty cup of tea or coffee in their respective safari tents and camps before getting ready for a Hot-Air Balloon Safari ride.

Travellers are normally picked up from the comforts of their camps just before the sunrise takes place. In most of the cases, people are called up even before the clock strikes six in the morning.  Any professional hot air balloon company booked by the visitors will normally brief all of them in the evening before the takeoff.  You might just arrive in time to observe the break of dawn and the rise of the balloon at the launch site at the same time.  All the signed up customers are then taken through a safety briefing before getting boarded on the balloon for takeoff. In the end, it could be said that everything till the launch of the balloon starts very systematically.

Can Children Take The Hot Air Balloon Flight In Serengeti?

When it comes to the take children on Serengeti Balloon Safari, the officials and authorities controlling the flight take this matter regarding their safety very seriously. According to their rule, children below the age of twelve are not allowed to ride on the balloon.

Such a restriction has been placed not just for the safety of children but also because of their height that will not allow them to enjoy the stunning and spectacular scenes from the edge of the balloon basket. In case, if the parents of the children insist on taking their responsibility of controlling their lads while on the flight then it is up to the balloon pilot to make the final decision for allowing children Ballooning In Serengeti Park In Tanzania.

How High Does The Balloon Fly Over Serengeti?

The balloon flies up to the height up to 1000 feet for unique and fabulous panoramic scenes of the Serengeti plains below.  Then it glides to a lower elevation point at a-tree-top or even grass-top level for a much nicer or clearer view of the rich wildlife, plants and vegetation present below. Nature also comes into play during the trip as the exact direction and duration of the flight depends on the wind and the widespread weather conditions of the day.  Approximately, the trip would last a minimum of one hour. But, whatever is the situation the control of the balloon always is in the hands of the operator.

Booking Balloon Safari in Serengeti. How Much Does It Cost?

Most safari lodges and camps in Serengeti National Park do have a reservation desk for balloon safari companies.  From these desks, safari fans can book for their respective balloon flights. However, if the travel dates fall within the peak safari season, it is greatly advisable to book your seat in advance. Pre-booking the seat would ensure you do not miss the ultimate safari flight of your life.

For instance, during the migration period, the seats sell like hot cakes. The cost of Hot air balloon in Serengeti fluctuates a lot according to the season & demand for Tanzania Safari Tours. The peak safari travel season, between the months of July and October, is the most expensive season, with prices for the seats on the balloon basket going high currently.

Believe it or not! Serengeti Balloon Safari is even more popular than the game drives that avid safari watchers and photographers take every year. The reason is quite obvious you might miss some portion of action while watching animals on land but when you see them aerially, you can be able to have a 360-degree view or Bird’s eye view. Please visit us @ Silver Sky Travel if you are interested to know more or book for the legendary hot air balloon safaris in Serengeti of Tanzania.
