as Coca Cola Route, Marangu is the most enterprising route. With the comforts of sleeping huts along the way, this route offers most direct route to the peak. The huts are communal, and the bunks have a sponge mattress and pillow. There are 60 beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. Having all the creature comfort like solar lights, comfortable beds, bathrooms, running water, toilets etc. all the way to the top, makes it all the rage. The energy and laughter rings out all the 5 days or 6 days trek of the summit.
After breakfast and briefing, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (about 1 hour), register and commence the climb. Walk through the rainforest to the Maundi Crater for amazing view with various birds and species of monkeys showing antics along the way. Then straight to the Mandara hut where you can rest for the day.

Start the next day for Horombo hut, swamping your senses of the dense rain forest to open moorlands. Views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are amazing. Look for giant lobelias and grounsels. You may begin to feel the effects of the altitude.

Ascending, pass the last watering point, walking onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Vegetation begins with upper heathland but then disappears into “moonscape”. Dinner, rest, and prepare for summit climb.

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s point located on the crater rim. Continuing, ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa. There are unbelievable views at every turn. Have your picture taken at the summit to show your friends and family. From here descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on to the Horombo encampment.
Beginning your climb so early will help you acclimatize with AMS that is fairly common with mountain climbers. That’s the most adopted method that guarantee successful summit
